I have always had trouble sleeping so I am constantly looking for a little help relaxing and calming my nervous system before I go to bed. Aromatherapy is a gentle yet powerful tool to aid in relaxation. This oil will have a lightly floral and slightly earthy scent.
How does aromatherapy work for relaxation?
The most direct method by which aromatherapy effects our body's system is through their scent. Each essential oil is composed of many naturally occurring chemical compounds. The combination of which creates their unique scent. As we smell the essential oils, they stimulate our olfactory senses, which sends messages to our brain and more specifically our limbic system. The limbic system is the part of the brain that is responsible for our emotional response. Certain chemical compounds within some essential oils will initiate the production of the neurotransmitter serotonin. These type of oils will provide a relaxing effect. I have selected such oils for this blend.
Simply roll the oil onto skin; wrists, temples, feet, and on the neck behind the ears are all great locations. Personally, I especially love using this oil on my feet ;)
